Repository Settings

Rename a repository, change its description or visibility, or delete it entirely - all from the repository's Settings page. Opening the page requires admin access on the repository (owner, an explicit admin grant, or an organization/team admin grant); updating settings requires the same, and deleting requires being the owner.

Update Display Name, Slug, and Description

Change the display name, the URL slug, or the description at any time. Changing the slug changes the repository's URL immediately - update any bookmarks, clone remotes, or links that reference the old slug. The repository's underlying storage is never renamed, so the change is instant and has no effect on the repository's history.

Change Visibility

Toggle between public and private the same way as at creation time - see Visibility for what each setting controls for read access.

Delete a Repository

Deleting a repository is permanent and removes its entire history, branches, and tags - there is no recovery. Only the owner can delete a repository, and the action requires typing the repository's exact slug into a confirmation field before it is accepted.
