git.eu accounts use a username, an email address, and a password, with optional two-factor authentication and passwordless magic-link sign-in.

Create an Account

Step 1 - Register

Open the registration page and fill in a username (6 to 42 characters: letters, numbers, dots, underscores, or hyphens; it starts and ends with a letter or number, with no two symbols in a row), your email address, and a password of at least 8 characters. Optionally add a display name and subscribe to the newsletter.

During an invitation-gated beta period, registration may also ask for an invitation code.

Step 2 - Verify Your Email

After registering, git.eu sends a verification link to your email address. Open it to activate your account. If it does not arrive, sign in and request a new verification email from your account menu.

An unverified account has limited access until the email address is confirmed.

Password Sign-In

Enter your username or email plus your password, and check Remember me to stay signed in longer on that device.

If two-factor authentication is enabled on your account, you are prompted for a verification code (authenticator app, email fallback, or a recovery code) after your password is accepted - see Account Security to set it up.

Magic-Link Sign-In

Prefer not to type a password? Request a magic link with your username or email instead - git.eu emails a one-time sign-in link, and opening it completes sign-in without a password.

Magic-link preferences (on/off, and whether it also requires your second factor) are managed from Account Security.
