Diffs

Compare two refs directly, or view the patch for a single file inside one commit.

Ref-to-Ref Diff

Pick any two refs - branches, tags, or commit hashes - to see everything that changed between them: per-file status (added, modified, deleted, renamed), and the full patch for each file. A diff can be computed two ways: directly between the two refs, or against their common ancestor (merge-base) - useful when comparing a feature branch to a moving target branch. Narrow the comparison to a single file's path when you only care about one file's changes.

Single-File Diff in a Commit

From a commit's detail page, opening one changed file on its own shows just that file's patch - handy for sharing or reviewing a single change without the surrounding commit noise.

Note: ref-to-ref diff is a deep route - the same sign-in requirement as the commit log applies here, even on a public repository. The single-file diff inside a commit stays open to anonymous visitors on a public repository - see Visibility.
