Branches & Tags

Browse the branches and tags of a repository, and switch between them without losing your place.

Branch List

The branch list shows every branch, default branch first, then alphabetically, each with an ahead/behind count against the default branch - a quick read on how far a branch has diverged.

Switching Branches

Switching branches from the file tree, file viewer, or blame view keeps you on the same path when possible, so moving between branches while browsing the same file stays a single click.

Tags

The tag list is paginated and shows every tag, newest first. Opening a tag shows whether it is lightweight or annotated, and - for annotated tags - the tag message.

Access

Branch and tag listings, and tag detail pages, are all open to anonymous visitors on a public repository; a private repository requires an explicit read grant - see Visibility.
